Stopham Estate Pinot Gris 2015

Stopham Estate Pinot Gris 2015

Established in 2007 in West Sussex, Stopham Estate is owned by Simon Woodhead, a former engineer who designed parts for Formula One racing cars. Six hectares are planted with predominantly Pinot Gris and Bacchus with Stopham’s main focus producing the highest quality still wine.

Stopham Estate Pinot Gris 2015 is made from 85% Pinot Gris and 15% Bacchus. The use of special ‘Stelvin’ screwcaps enables the wine to remain super zingy and fresh, preserving the incredible purity of fruit. Whilst we’re talking about grape varieties, if you’d like to learn more about the nettley, crisp, vibrant fiend that is Bacchus, please check out our article here. Subtle, us?

Bolney Bubbly is fantastic crowd-pleaser of a wine. Being a non-vintage style, each year’s grapes are blended with 5% of reserve wine, (from previous years) which allows the winemakers to create a perfectly balanced, consistent style.

Nyetimber Estate - Part Two

If Eric Heerema’s first pivotal role was purchasing Nyetimber estate, his second was appointing Cherie Spriggs and Brad Greatrix as winemakers. This Canadian couple met as students when they were both studying Biochemistry. After discovering a professional interest in the science of wine, they gained their Masters at the Wine Research Centre in Vancouver before heading to Adelaide University to study Oenology, (the study of winemaking). They gained valuable experience and learnt different winemaking styles by doing harvests in Australia, New Zealand, Oregon, France and Canada.

Nyetimber Estate - Part One

Nyetimber is one of the most highly acclaimed and well-loved brands of English wine, synonymous with prestige, quality and elegance. The estate’s story dates as far back as the 11th century with the Grade II listed manor house at its heart. Nestled in the beautiful Sussex countryside, Nyetimber estate was mentioned in the Domesday Book with its original name “Nitimbreha” thought to translate as “newly timbered house”. As is the case with every historical property, Nyetimber has changed ownership countless times over the years. Notable proprietors include Thomas Cromwell and subsequently, (when Cromwell fell out of favour with King Henry VIII) Anne of Cleves.

Product Review: Wiston Estate Cuvée Brut 2013

Every wine tells a story. Wiston Estate is a family-run enterprise situated on the picturesque South Downs in Sussex. The chalky soil and gentle south-facing slopes of the vineyard create an ideal environment for growing vines. The hills of the South Downs provide protection against prevailing winds and allow for maximum sun exposure which promotes the slow, steady ripening of the fruit.
